IRONHORSE APARTMENTS @ CENTRAL STATION

This four-story sustainable building curves around a podium-level courtyard with a freestanding community pavilion. Residents enter through an open-air lobby with a breezeway view of the interior landscaping and branch off to a mix of affordable units punctuated by glassed-in winter gardens. East and west sides take on different aspects to respond appropriately to disparate surroundings: new townhouses on one side of the building and a highway on the other. This project was recently awarded a $65,000 green grant from Alameda County to install and maintain green roofs on the common areas.
